Kennington has always been a difficult place to visit and, as usual, we were greeted with lots of rain. Kev was very impressed with the straight lines on the park and spent most of the build up for the game taking notes and drawing lines on his notepad. Kev has decided that he would like a ruler for his Xmas - a big ruler.
The game started and it came apparent that it was going to be a no nonsense game. Both sides had to work hard in very difficult conditions. Midfield had most of the action. Fraser was his usual tenacious self. Kennington were very dangerous from set pieces. They are a big side and were giving Cumnor lots of problems. Henry and Kieran are forming a great partnership. They are beginning to complement each other. If one of them misses the ball, the other will cover. Robbie had to be very sharp to make a great clearance. Alex was under constant attack but held his ground and started to deliver some great balls. Luke and Harri linked up well to open up the defence but the Kennington goalie was quick off his line. Bradley and Nathan were putting a lot of effort in but could not make that big breakthrough. Shaun was controlling midfield with some great passes.
Suddenly Fraser made a break and a tackle was made but he was brought down. The referee gave a free kick. It was just outside the penalty box. Bradley lined up the kick and fired an unstoppable shot into the net. It was 1-0 to Cumnor.
Kennington searched for the equaliser. Mark had to be at his best to stop a dangerous attack on the left hand side. Nathan was holding up the ball well when Cumnor did move forward.
The first half ended 1-0.
The second half started like the first began. Lots of midfield action. Ben was brought in to add some energy to the Cumnor side. He made some great passes. Luke and Bradley were not far away with great efforts.
Probably the best move of the game gave Cumnor the second goal. Harri passed to Luke. Luke gave the ball to Bradley. Bradley crossed the ball and Fraser headered the ball into the net. 2-0 to Cumnor. Suddenly it was all Cumnor.
A Kennington break put Cumnor under pressure and the Kennington attacker was brought down. It was a penalty. The Kennington player took the penalty and fired it just over the bar. Tim had to make 2 great saves from great shots. Tim punched both balls to safety.
The final whistle was blown.

Next week we travel to Newport Pagnell in the B &B CUP. An exciting adventure. After trips to local sides, Didcot Casuals and Ardington, where we got lost, do we have any chance finding a side 50 miles away.

CUMNOR MAKE THE NEXT ROUND OF THE CUP BUT KEV MIGHT NEED EYE TEST.
Florence Park stood between Cumnor and the next round of the cup. They are running away with their league and will probably be in our league next year.
Early morning snow put the fixture at risk but the weather improved as the kick off approached. Both sides were impressed with Kev's marking of the line. Normal FA rules require straight lines for the outline of the pitch. His curvy lines took everybody by surprise. Being a linesman has never been more difficult.
The game started with attacking from both sides. Florence Park were trying long balls over our defence which meant that Robbie had to be very alert. He was very quick off his line to make some important clearances. Cumnor were starting to take control. Fraser made a fantastic run up the right hand side, beating a couple of players, and then crossing the ball. Both Freddie and Bradley just failed to connect. Midfield was where Cumnor were winning the game. Shaun and Luke were battling hard to win the ball with some great tackles. Both players were complementing each other. This allowed Harri and Fraser to make runs wide.
Cumnor got the breakthrough that their game deserved. A clearance from Kieran landed in the box. Luke was first to react and curved the ball into the net. It was 1-0 to Cumnor.
Florence Park moved up a gear. Up until now, Mark and Alex were very much on top. A dangerous attack on the right was blocked by Mark and he cleared the ball to Harri. Harri hit the ball over the defence and Bradley shot wide. Henry cleared another attack with a great header.
Alex made another important tackle. With seconds to go, the ball was stuck in the Cumnor penalty area. Kieran blocked one shot and Robbie managed to grab the ball and clear the danger. The first half ended.
Cumnor wanted to finish the game off as quickly as possible. Nathan broke down the left hand side and crossed the ball. It was half cleared to Kieran who gave the goalie no chance with a great shot. It was 2-0. At the other end, Tim made a couple of great stops in a row to keep the score at 2-0.
Fraser released Bradley. He raced into the penalty area. Just as he was about to shoot, he was brought down with a clattering tackle. it was a definite penalty. Bradley took the penalty and gave the goalie no chance.
Another through ball from Luke found Freddie. He raced in on the goalie and made it 4-0 with a great finish.
Robbie came on and scored with his first touch. Henry fired the ball over the defence and Robbie and the goalie raced for the same ball. Who would be first? Robbie was sharper and lobbed the ball over the goalie into the net.
At the other end, Florence Park scored a fantastic consolation goal.
With minutes to go, Nathan forced a corner. Harri sent in a swirling ball towards the goal. The goalie tried to hold the ball but the spin forced the ball into the net. It was 6-1 to Cumnor.

CUMNOR WIN AN EXCITING ENCOUNTER
Cumnor had a must win game against Quarry. A win would keep Cumnor in the hunt for the title.
Lots of pressure was on Bradley who was playing against his school friends. A defeat would make it a very uncomfortable Monday morning at school.
As the game got underway, Cumnor were flinging themselves forward. Shaun made a great run up the right hand side. He delivered it to Bradley. Bradley's shot was pushed wide. Fraser found Freddie with a searching ball but it was just offside.

CUMNOR MOVE INTO NEXT ROUND OF CUP
Cumnor eased by Saxton Rovers to take their place in the next round of the B and B cup.
Captain Luke was back after his injury.
Cumnor started the better team but the first chance fell to Saxton. A quick breakaway down the right hand side sliced through the Cumnor defence. The ball was crossed into the box and the Saxton striker missed his first attempt but connected well with his second. Fortunately Robbie was quick off his line to make a good block.
After 10 minutes, Henry made a clearance and then dropped to the ground. He had suffered a knee injury. He was taken off but it looks like he could be out for a couple of weeks.
Cumnor were starting to get on top of Saxton. Fraser fired the ball up the right hand side and Bradley shot the ball just over. The Saxton goalie made some great saves. Shaun and Ben linked up to set up Luke but his shot was blocked. Alex did very well to break up a Saxton attack. Cumnor took the lead with a lovely move. Shaun found Fraser. He slipped the ball through to Freddie. Freddie moved forward and slipped the ball past the goalie. Just in case it was not going to make it, Kieran raced in to fire the ball into the net. There was a suspicion of offside as the referee looked towards the linesman but there was no flag.
Bradley fired in the second with a lofted shot over the goalie. Freddie found Fraser who made it 3 with a great strike.
Fraser and Luke came close with a couple of opportunities.

The second half saw Bradley score a fantastic goal with a shot from the edge of the box. As the wind picked up, Cumnor had chance after chance to score a couple more. Nathan had an opportunity to open his account but his shot was blocked. Ben and Shaun had a couple of long range efforts. Cumnor kept pressing but some great goalkeeping kept them out.
Saxton were still proving dangerous but Robbie was very alert to clear any danger. Mark made an important interception with minutes to go.
