CUMNOR OVERCOME AYLESBURY IN CUP CLASSIC.

Both sides were looking forward to a great cup tie. Both were doing well in their respective leagues. Cumnor started with an attacking formation.
As both sides had never played each other a slow probing start was expected from both sides. This was not the case. Cumnor, with the slope in their favour, took the game to Aylesbury. Fraser was controlling midfield. He spread a lovely ball to Bradley. He moved forward and fired a great shot towards goal. The goalie saved well. Freddie forced a corner. Harri fired in a great corner. The ball bounced about in the 6 yard box. Shaun shot but the ball was knocked of the line. Luke had his shot cleared of the line.
Aylesbury cleared the ball. A lovely long pass cleared the Cumnor defence. The Aylesbury attacker, who was very fast, left our defence standing and slipped the ball past an advancing Robbie. Some critiscism was directed at the linesman as some of the Cumnor coaching staff thought it was offside. From where I was standing the linesman made the right decision.
Cumnor were in shock--but it was too get worse. Another long ball over the Cumnor defence was controlled by an Aylesbury player. He then lofted the ball over Robbie. Two attacks two goals. Aylesbury had hit Cumnor with classic counter attack football.
At this moment, Dave's blood pressure had risen to dangerous levels.
Cumnor dragged themselves back. Henry and Alex were starting to get the measure of the Aylesbury attackers. Henry cleared the ball to Harri. Harri slipped it to Freddie. He flicked the ball past the defender but was brought down just outside the box. Harri took the free kick. it went over the defence and was controlled by Fraser who slotted the ball into the net. It was 2-1.
Straight afterwords, Aylesbury attacked and hit the post. The ball was cleared.
Alex hit the ball forward and the ball was passed to Freddie. He shot but it was deflected. It landed at Harri's feet who slammed the ball into the top corner. It was 2-2. What a game.
The referee blew for half time.
Aylesbury were looking very dangerous in the second half. Using the wings, they were pushing Cumnor back. Alex and Mark probably were having their busiest games in a long while. Both were tackling and clearing the ball as if there lifes depended on it. Kieran made some great tackles and still had time to push forward. Tim made some great saves from some great moves.
Aylesbury were given a free kick just outside the box. It was floated into the box. Tim managed to save the ball but the ball landed at an Aylesbury player who fired the ball into the back of the net. It was 3-2.
Nathan came on for Harri who had pulled a muscle.
Cumnor came close with a Luke shot. Shaun was covering every blade of grass. Shaun forced a corner. Kieran took the corner. He fired a great corner into the box. It was half cleared to Bradley. He lined up his shot and hit a great shot into the net. It was 3-3.
Both sets of boys decided to push for the winning goal. Aylesbury raced forward. The Aylesbury player crossed the ball into the box. It was met by the Aylesbury centre forward who headered the ball against the bar. It came down and was cleared. What a let off!
At the other end, Fraser and Luke set up Bradley who knocked his shot just past.
The final whistle was blown.
EXTRA TIME:
Both sides were tired but they had to start again. Nathan had a lovely shot which was just over the bar. Robbie was causing all sorts of problems in midfield. It shows you what a versatile player he is. At the other end, Aylesbury came close with a great shot. It had to be a great goal to finish a great game.
Cumnor attacked. Yet again, the Aylesbury goalie made a great save and pushed the ball out for a corner. Kieran took the corner. Bradley rose above the defence and met the ball with a great header. The goalie had no chance.
It was 4-3.
Both sides had other chances but the game ended 4-3 to Cumnor.

CUMNOR MINORS 3 AYLESBURY 3
AET: CUMNOR MINORS 4 AYLESBURY 3

MAN OF THE MATCH: FRASER.

A fantastic game which neither side deserved to lose. Both sets of lads were fantastic.
As I write this it is nearly 8:30 and Dave's heart rate should now be about normal. We now have a B AND B semi-final, an Oxford Mail quarter final and still fighting for the League. Just as well that we have a big squad. With 24 hours before the tranfer window shuts, Dave may not have enough time to make any new additions to the side.
