With a quarter final of the cup awaiting the winners, tensions were high on the run up to the game. A victory was important for Robbie, as school the next day would be very uncomfortable if Cumnor lost.
The game got underway. Cumnor attacked from the beginning and Kidlington were pushed into their own half. Luke hit the post twice in the first 5 minutes. Cumnor were looking in the mood to finish the game as quickly as possible. A few early chances came and went but it was only a matter of time before Cumnor scored. Bradley broke the deadlock with a great shot. He made it two a couple of minutes later. Ben made it three with a shot into the corner. Dave was rotating the squad so everybody was getting a good run. Half time it was 3-0.
Both Cumnor goalies were having a quiet time as Kidlington were pegged back into their own half.
At the other end, Ben and Robbie scored with 2 great headers. Robbie forced the ball over the line for another goal. Shaun scored a great goal and celebrated as if it was the winning goal in the cup final.
Alex and Mark defended when they had too but had quiet days. Henry and Kieran both had spells in midfield and had there own attempts on goal. Nathan and Fraser linked up well with some great passing. Robbie grabbed his hat-trick.
Harri tried a couple of long shots to no avail.

MAN OF THE MATCH: ROBBIE.
A great victory. Next week we play Aylesbury Town in the cup. Aylesbury are top of their league and look to be an excellent side. Yesterday they beat Haddenham 5-2. John Gardner plays for Haddenham. So Dave will probably be on the phone to the Gardners requesting a dossier on Aylesbury. Should be a fantastic game.

CUMNOR WIN WITH A GOOD SECOND HALF DISPLAY
Kennington were our visitors on a glorious Sunday morning. They have had an up and down season but always are a difficult team to beat.
The 11.30 KO caused a few problems with some parents. Kev came racing in at the last minute after having slept in. Due to this he was unable to do the lines. Strangely no-one seemed to notice. In fact, Paul Lyon commented that they did not have their normal wavy shape.
The game started with end to end football. Both sides were playing the long ball over the defence. Henry was doing alot of covering but Robbie did not look threatened. At the other end, Nathan and Bradley were causing lot of problems. The first real chance fell to Bradley. Luke passed the ball to Nathan. He slipped a great ball to Bradley. He found a gap in the defence and tried to place the ball but it just went wide.
Luke was taken off as he took a knock on his scar from his last injury.
Robbie had to be quick of his line to make a great clearance.
Fraser tried a long range effort but the goalie saved well. Shaun set up Harri but the shot just went wide. Alex tried a long range effort but it must of hit an air current and went wide. Nathan forced a corner. Harri took the corner and the goalie made a good save. Fraser tackled the goalie and he fell backwards and dropped the ball into the net. The referee had to confer with his linesman and the goal was not given. There was not any protest from Cumnor as the goalie was clearly fouled.
Kieran tried to set up Bradley but the defender tackled well. At the other end, Freddie had to make a last gasp tackle to stop a Kennington attack.
The first half ended 0-0.
Luke came back out for the second half and looked invigorated. He forced a corner on the right. Harri fired in a great corner. It was cleared only to Bradley. Bradley controlled and hit the ball into the back of the net. Cumnor breathed a sigh of relief.
At the other end, Tim made a great save from a great shot. Mark started the next move. He passed to Fraser. Fraser's ball was forced out for a corner. Harri hit a perfect corner. Shaun came racing in and hit the back of the net with a great header. What a goal!
The goal of the match was the third. Kieran won the ball in midfield. It was slipped to Bradley who found Freddie. He gilided the ball to Fraser. He moved towards the goal and, from 18 yards, hit an unstoppable shot. The goalie stood no chance.
Kennington never gave up and Mark and Henry both made good clearances.
The game finished 3-0 to Cumnor.

CUMNOR START THE YEAR WITH A WIN
Didcot were the visitors to Cumnor in an eagerly awaited third round B & B Cup game. A cold weather front had put the game in doubt. Early on Sunday morning it did not look good.
Dave arrived at the ground early to check out the condition of the park. Fortunately the late kick off and some sun did the trick and the pitch was playable.
Both sides were ready for a tough encounter. Cumnor started the game trying to control midfield. Shaun and Luke were finding space to move forward. An early shot from Biggy raced by the post. Bradley was full of life and was making some fantastic runs.
Henry cleared a Didcot attack. He found Fraser. He raced forward and knocked the ball into the box. It got a deflection and landed next to Biggy. Biggy calmly knocked the ball into the net over the goalies head.
Didcot were passing the ball well. With some nice passing they were causing big problems on the Cumnor left. Harri and Mark were working hard to stop the attacks. Didcot were looking dangerous. Both Mark and Freddie were clearing the ball well. The Didcot winger broke on the right. He raced forward and fired in a great cross/shot. The ball swirled in the air. Robbie tried his best to reach the ball but it was just too high for him. It was 1-1.
Didcot were buoyed by the goal. Robbie had to make some good catches as Didcot sprayed in a couple of crosses.
Kieran, who gets better every week, was tackling with such confidence that only one person would come out with the ball. The battle was being fought in midfield and the half time whistle was blown.
The second half saw Cumnor assert their authority. Luke was starting to make some forceful runs. He pushed the ball over the defence and Bradley just lost out with the defender. Fraser made a great run up the right but the ball was blocked by the defender. Ben added his strength to the midfield and he was tackling well.
After a Cumnor attack, a goal kick was awarded to Didcot. The kick was taken but it was intercepted by Biggy who made no mistake and fired the ball into the net.
A run from Fraser ended in a corner for Cumnor. Harri took the corner and it was floated into the box. A Didcot player headered the ball out. It only went as far as Luke. He controlled the ball and slipped the ball into the net. It was 3-1.
Didcot threw everybody forward. Alex was giving nothing away-even though it was his birthday. A no nonsense Alex was having to keep up with the tricky winner and make some great saving tackles.
On the left a long ball cleared the Cumnor defence and the Didcot attacker was first to the ball. Tim came racing out and made a great save from a point blank shot. What a save!
The game was nearly over as Freddie raced forward and came close to making it 4-1.
Nathan made a great contribution with some tireless running up front.
The referee blew the whistle and the game was over.
