CUMNOR ARE CHAMPIONS

Cumnor arrived at Bloxham on a cold windy morning knowing that in 70 minutes they could become league champions 2010. What stood in there way was an excellent Bloxham side. Cumnor had a full squad and there was worry and excitement in equal amount. A win or draw would give Cumnor the Championship. Dave had been thinking about the game all week. Cumnor started with a 4-5-1 formation. Freddie played up front and Bradley was pulled back into midfield.
With the wind behind, Bloxham started stronger. Robbie had to make a couple of stops and Bloxham's Tom Bosher was looking dangerous.
Cumnor started to cause Bloxham problems as a Bradley shot went wide. In five minutes, Cumnor found themselves 2 -0 down. Two great goals gave Robbie no chance. The Cumnor players looked shocked. With the wind blowing at them and Bloxham in the ascendancy, Cumnor looked worried.
As you would expect, Cumnor rolled there sleeves up and fought for every ball. Soon Cumnor were on top. Shaun flew a great ball over the defence and was met by Freddie. He shot and the goalie saved. The ball game out to Fraser. He rifled home an amazing shot from 18 yards. It was 2-1. Luke was making some great tackles to Tom's attacks. A Bloxham through ball was met by Kieran. He cleared the ball. It was controlled by Shaun. He was brought down 20 yards out. It was a free kick to Cumnor. Wrighty raced up to take the free kick. He measured his kick. It flew over the goal keeper, hit the underside of the bar and landed in the back of the net. What a goal! It was 2-2.
Jordi broke up a Bloxham attack. He moved forward with the ball and found Fraser. He found Luke but he was tackled and the ball went out for a corner. Harri took the corner and Shaun rose above the defence to header the ball into the back of the net. A great header. It was 3-2.
Cumnor were now on top. Mark broke up another attack and found Bradley. He slipped the ball to Freddie. Freddie had his shot saved.
With minutes to go at the other end, Bloxham snatched an equaliser. It was 3-3. The referee blew for half time. What a game!
In the second half, Cumnor stopped playing football. Bloxham controlled the game. They looked the more likely to score. Kieren and Wrighty were playing out off their skins. Making last gasp tackles and some great clearances. Alex tackled with such strength that it surprised everyone. These 3 could not keep the ball out for ever. Another Bloxham attack split the Cumnor defence. The Bloxham player controlled the ball and fired the ball past an advancing Tim. It was 4-3.
Cumnor were coming back into the game but still were not looking confident. Luke made a great tackle in midfield and found Harri. He raced forward and hit a great shot into the back of the net. It was 4-4.
With 10 minutes to go Cumnor took the lead. A flick from Freddie found Biggy. He beat a couple of players and shot. It was saved. It came out to Freddie who calmly slipped the ball into the net. It was 5-4.
Cumnor attacked again. Adam controlled the ball and slipped the ball to Bradley. He found Robbie who took a couple of touches and volleyed the ball into the net. It was 6-4.
The game was not over. Bloxham flew forward. Alex made a great tackle and pushed the ball out for a corner. It was put into the box and Tim rose to punch the ball away. In the last minute Bloxham made it 5 with a great shot. Bloxham could have equalised but the shot went past.
The referee looked at his watch and blew for time. It was 6-5. What a game! A great advert for Boy's football.

BLOXHAM 5 CUMNOR MINORS 6
(FRASER, WRIGHTY, SHAUN, HARRI, FREDDIE AND ROBBIE}

CUMNOR ARE CHAMPIONS. Well done Cumnor. A great result and well deserved. To beat Bloxham on their own pitch and win the league is amazing. Bloxham are by far the best side we have played this year.
