CUMNOR MAKE CUP FINAL

Radley were our opponents on a bright sunny day at Didcot Town FC for the semi-final of the Oxford Mail Cup. Both sides know each other very well and were desperate to reach the cup final.
Cumnor's cup record against Radley was not good.
Cumnor received a injury blow before the game as Shaun failed a late fitness test. Otherwise Dave had a full side to choose from.
The game started and Radley nearly took an early lead. A ball over the top of the Cumnor defence was met by the Radley attacker. Fortunately Robbie was off his line quickly and managed to make a great save. The ball was cleared by Kieren. Luke won the ball in midfield. It was pushed up the left hand side to Harri. He crossed the ball into the box. The ball landed with Freddie. He had time to control the ball and slip the ball into the back of the net. It was 1-0. Minutes later it was 2-0. The ball was knocked in by Jordi. Freddie again controlled the ball and slipped it past the goalie for number 2.
Cumnor were looking comfortable but Radley always looked dangerous on the counter attack.
Ibby had a shot saved by the Radley goalie.
Wrighty made another great interception. He moved the ball to Fraser. He raced down the right hand side and crossed the ball into the middle. The ball was cleared. Harri and Freddie controlled the ball. It was passed to Bradley. From 20 yards, he fired a great shot just over the bar.
At the other end, Alex's no nonsense approach, was proving irritating to the Radley attack.
With minutes to go of the first half, the Radley goalie had to race of his line to clear a through ball. Fraser latched onto the clearance. He shot from 50 yards but the ball went past the post.
The first half finished 2-0.
At the start of the second half, Cumnor had a dream start. Immediately the ball was controlled by Luke. He slipped the ball through to Bradley. He moved into the Radley box. As the goalie approached, he rifled the ball into the top corner. What a goal!
Cumnor pressed forward for another goal. Adam made a good run on the left hand side. He crossed the ball but the goalie saved well. Ben won the ball in midfield and put a great ball through to Bradley. He shot but the goalie saved well. Freddie, Bradley and Adam came close to making it four. Mark was brought on in the attack. He made a couple of great runs and had a great long shot near the end.
Radley started to look more dangerous. Tim had to be quick of his line on a couple of occasions. He was beaten by a great shot but the ball came of the bar and was cleared by Robbie.
The referee blew for full time. Cumnor have made the final for the second year in a row.

WRIGHTY BREAKS DEADLOCK WITH FANTASTIC FREE KICK

Wrighty broke the deadlock in a tight encounter with a great free kick and kept Cumnor at the top of the league.
A sunny morning greeted both sides who were both desperate for victory. The game started with both defences on top. Chances for both sides were limited in the first half. Wrighty and Kieren were formidable in the centre of defence. Alex and Jordi protected the flanks well. Robbie had one easy shot to save from a free kick.
In the second half Cumnor controlled the game but neither team looked like scoring. Ibby set up Harri. He hit a great shot but the goalie made a great save.
On the left, Luke won the ball. He passed it to Shaun who found Freddie. He raced towards the penalty area and, as he left the defender behind, he was brought down. Luckily for Wantage it was just outside the box.
Wrighty line up to take the free kick. He placed a great shot into the top corner. What a goal. It was 1-0.
Ibby and Shaun both had chances to make it 2. Then Bradley won the ball and found Freddie. He took the ball to the bye line and crossed it into the penalty area. Fraser popped up from no-where to tap the ball into the net. It was 2-0.
At the other end, Tim made a good save from a shot from a Wantage attacker.
The game finished 2-0.
