Cumnor, with one eye on next season, changed their formation. The first 15 minutes saw Cumnor adjusting to the different positions. In this period, Bloxham had the upper hand. Robbie had to be quick of his line to clear a couple of through balls. Alex made a great tackle to stop another attack. It came as no surprise when Bloxham took the lead after a corner caught the Cumnor defence out. Robbie had no chance.
Cumnor started to find their feet. Luke cleared another attack. He passed the ball to Shaun who found Fraser. He passed to Freddie. He slipped past a couple of players and slipped the ball into the net. It was 1-1. Minutes later it was 2-1 to Cumnor as a lovely ball from Fraser was squeezed in by Freddie.
Wrighty and Declan were linking up well on the left side. One move nearly set up Joe to make it 3-1 but the goalie saved well.
With minutes to go, Bloxham made it 2-2 with an opportunist strike.
Half time was 2-2.
The second half saw Cumnor take control. Bradley, who was playing well, pressurised the goalie. The ball fell to him and he calmly lobbed the ball over the goalie. It was 3-2.
At the other end, Kieren made a great last minute tackle.
Wrighty made it 4 with a great strike from 30 yards. What a goal!
Tim had to be very sharp to clear another Bloxham attack.
The goal of the match was a wonderful strike from Fraser. Declan slipped the ball to Fraser and he hit it first time into the top corner.
Freddie made it 6 with a calmly taken goal.
CUMNOR MINORS 6 BLOXHAM 2
A great game of football. Second place in the league and B&B finalists is not a bad season for other teams. Cumnor have such high standards that winning next year is the only option.
We have a great squad but this season we struggled because we only had 12 players for the last part of the season. Therefore we will strengthen the squad during the summer.
